Hey y’all,
Hope this finds you all well and wonderful – rested and refreshed (hahaha) from the school holidays. Seriously though, it’s been germ central in the Northern Beaches, not sure about the rest of Sydney – but I’m looking forward to some good cleansing rain to chase the bugs and cleanse our spirits!
We have a few things happening that might interest you!

  • Loobylou – Finders Keepers Fri 6th – Saturday 7th June
We are beyond thrilled that Loobylou candles have been invited back to Finders Keepers in June. It’s truly an honour to showcase something we’ve worked so very hard on and believe in so much, in such an exciting and dynamic forum. We’re surrounded by such talent and workmanship with Finders Keepers and can’t wait! I plan to get ahead of Christmas shopping (for a change) this year, and what a one stop shop that will be!
Also, we have a new retailer. Lakota Trading at 12 Lenthall Street, Kensignton. Lakota carries our entire 250ml range of candles amongst vintage wares, industrial antiques and the kicker – GREAT coffee.
  • Kid’s Art Classes / Lessons
I’m putting together a few classes for the next school holidays between myself and hopefully a couple of other locals creatives. If you’re interested let me know ASAP for first dibs on spaces. We run small classes so that your little folks can get as much out of them, and have heaps of time for exploration and experimentation as they can get.
Further to this, one of our wonderful ARTspace crew, Dawn is putting together a course for regular Art classes starting soon for after school. As above, let us know if you’re interested so you can get the information first.
We try to cater to the needs of the community as best we can and the whole aim of the ARTspace is to be an accessible, affordable safe creative space. If YOU have any ideas of courses/classes/Exhibitions you think we should be running, please let us know! Feedback is how we’ll grow.
Colourful days to you.

STUDIO SPACES NOW AVAILABLE

Red Olive Updates, The ART world, underground ARTspace updates

Go on, give yourself the gift of creative space this Christmas!

We have TWO studios avaialbe within the dynamic underground ARTspace. Spots come up very rarely – particularly on this side! Can be double or two singles.

There’s something really special about being a part of a group of creative people, a wealth of information – and a glorious space to boot.

Call us ASAP to arrange a viewing.  0424 604 603

studio avail.

SO WHAT IS THE ARTSPACE?

Simply, a space for the ARTS. A destination/location/platform set up by Kere M Baker of Red Olive Studios (retail and design). In an effort to provide affordable Studio and Exhibition space, somewhere for local creatives to, well, create…the underground ARTspace was founded.

Initially ARTspace flew under the Red Olive Studios banner, however the ARTspace itself has been the core of it all,the constant, a continuing.

Our goals and plans for the New Year are to continue to educate, create and become more of a collective. We are looking at hosting kids and Adults Creative classes, both with our own Artists network, and with others coming in to host their own – so there’ll be lots of opportunities and perspectives.

WHAT OF THE ARTSPACE…

t’s a great little ‘underground’ spot at 294 Sydney Road, Balgowlah which we’ve turned into Studio and Gallery space for local Artists. It’s been a LONG process – lots of learning along the way, but I’m really stoked about all of it – including the Artists and creative folk you’re surrounded by on your own creative journey.

It’s an Underground space, which is quite special – there’s a kind of exclusive, boutique feel about it. It’s raw and industrial, and pretty unique really. There’s also an incredible backyard which has seen many days with easels and paint on sunny days, bubbles and tealight candles on opening nights…Something for everyone! We’ve had the studios running since Easter 2010, and the Gallery part of the space officially opened with astounding success on August 5th 2010 with the group show ‘Editors Pic(k)s’.

It’s a really wonderful space, with kitchen and full bathroom facilities, an incredible leafy and inspiring backyard and in the company of some beautiful and talented like minded people.

Even if you’re not looking for a Studio or Exhibition space, you might be wanting to run workshops or seminars or host lectures or functions or hold Art classes, – all of which we’re really open to having a chat about. I’m personally wanting someone to do some hebel sculpting lessons – that’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time…Watch this space!

LIVE – Images from Chromesthesia… Be part of the Exhibition ONLINE as it happens!!

Red Olive Updates, The ART world, underground ARTspace updates

FINALLY!!!  ART + CRAFT CLASSES

expressions of interest / feedback required!

After much planning, re-shuffling, research, recovery and what not, we’re finally at a place where we can bring these long awaited classes to you! The few we ran awhile back were an absolute hit – and it’s something we’ve wanted to bring back for a long while – and I’m frequently asked when they’re coming back!

REALLY keen on your feedback Mums + Dad’s + Carers as to what you’re looking for, what interests you – and what time frames suit today’s families.

We’re planning on starting around late Nov/Dec with a few after school classes, some school holiday classes – and maybe even some weekends here and there. What do you think? Our local public schools finish pretty close to Christmas this year – should we squish some in? Would it suit you to have somewhere for the kids while you finish shopping/work etc? Let me know: kere@redolivestudios.com

I really look forward to hearing from you  so I can get cracking on some dates! We’re looking at Adults classes too…so let us know on what YOU want, and we’ll try to provide it…

* Also, if you’re an Artist/Art Teacher in the area, and want to host classes with us – we’re looking forward to hearing from you too. We have all the space, trestles, drop sheets, Art tracking, chairs – did I mention space, that you’d need to make a wonderful time of it.

OUR FIRST ‘ORPHANS CHRISTMAS’

BOXING DAY BASH AT THE ARTspace

Another idea – and in the VERY early stages, is our ‘Orphans Christmas, Boxing Day Bash.’ Have a little lookie and see what you think? I remember in my early days here being alone, and lonely during this time. I am a big lover of all things Christmas, and needless to say, kind of feel like they’ve all come at once with every extra one I share with my family!! What do you think y’all?

Start paying it off now, and you have until Christmas Eve…This relates to all Red Olive retail items and even SOME Artwork, so have a look online.
